JayDee AgTech is now operating under the Jim Pattison Group umbrella after being acquired by the large Vancouver headquartered private company.
The acquisition was effective last Wednesday, and as of May 1 they are now operating as JayDee AgTech Ltd.
An acquisition statement on the JayDee AgTech site notes that there will be no change in management following the acquisition, and the current partnership team of Duane Smith, Boyd Hofmann and Robin Hayes, along with their Senior Management Teams and Department Managers, will continue to operate the company. In addition, the operational decision making will continue to be made locally, and all staff will be retained following the acquisition.
"The opportunity to partner with the Jim Pattison Group came to us, causing the shareholders to evaluate what was in the long term best interests of our business, customers, staff and shareholders," the merger statement highlights. "While the decision to sell was a very difficult one at the start, we are very confident that we have made the correct decision and selected a new owner that will continue in our values of excellent customers service, staff support and development, being the best implement dealer to the agricultural industry, supplying the best equipment, parts and service, and growing for the future to meet the needs of our producer partners."
JayDee AgTech dates back to early 2009 when a merger created one of the largest privately held John Deere dealer organization networks in Canada. The former Jay Dee Equipment consisted of five John Deere dealerships with locations in Swift Current, Kindersley, Maple Creek, Kyle and Leader. Green Acres Equipment Ltd., Greenstar Ag & Turf Ltd., and Humboldt Farm Equipment Ltd. had four John Deere dealerships with locations in Unity, North Battleford, Humboldt, and Kelvington.
The Jim Pattison Group is Canada's second-largest private company, boasting over 505 locations in a wide range of businesses, with annual sales of over $8.1 billion and more than 36,000 employees.
