The Shock Trauma Air Rescue Society (STARS) is excited to announce a $500,000 donation from Young’s Equipment, a Saskatchewan agricultural equipment dealership group.
"We are committed to our customers and during our 25th anniversary year, wanted to invest in an organization that would make a meaningful difference to our customers across the province,” said Tim Young, general manager of Young’s Equipment. “This investment will also help to provide a tangible and important health-care service to the eight communities where we have dealerships — Assiniboia, Davidson, Moose Jaw, Raymore, Regina, Watrous, Weyburn and Windthorst.”
In announcing the gift, Young encouraged other companies in Saskatchewan to support STARS. “Without support from companies, STARS won’t fly. We challenge all businesses in this province to support STARS in whatever way they can.”
The money donated by Young’s Equipment will go towards the costs of operating STARS’ two helicopter air ambulance bases in Saskatchewan.
“The generous support from Young’s Equipment will help STARS to continue responding to critically ill and injured patients,” said Rod Gantefoer, executive vice president of the STARS Foundation. “At STARS, it’s all about the patient and we appreciate the support from Young’s that allows us to help Saskatchewan people when they need care the most.”
STARS is a non-profit helicopter air ambulance organization that provides rapid and specialized emergency care and transportation for critically ill and injured patients. Our doctors, nurses, paramedics, and pilots work with a team of dedicated support staff and community partners to save lives. STARS operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week from bases in Regina, Saskatoon, Calgary, Edmonton, Grande Prairie and Winnipeg.
