Conventional biofuel production technologies include fermentation for corn ethanol production, transesterification for biodiesel production, hydrotreating for renewable diesel production and methane capture/purification for biomethane (biogas or renewable natural gas) production. Each conventional/first generation biofuel reduces GHG emissions by at least 20% compared to the petroleum fuel they replace.
