A regional John Deere dealership, Lakeland Equipment, has expanded with the acquisition of John Deere outlets in Brockport, Chili and Macedon.

Lakeland, which currently operates in Avon, Livingston County; Hall, Ontario County; and Savannah, Wayne County, takes over the dealerships from Ontrac Equipment.

Ontrac’s other locations in Canandaigua and Henrietta are closing because of their proximity to Lakeland’s operations in Hall and Avon.

Lakeland general manager Tom Beaty said that most of Ontrac’s employees are staying with the new owner, including former Ontrac owners David, Keith, Judith and Ron Perry.

Lakeland sells small agricultural, lawn and garden and other commercial items that are part of the John Deere product line.

“Ontrac’s values and operational strategies have been in line with Lakeland’s, so they are a great fit for us,” Beaty said. “Lakeland will now employ over 125 full-time employees and expects to generate more than $55 million in sales.”

Lakeland also has plans to expand into Dansville, Livingston County; Canaseraga, Allegany County, and Hornell, Steuben.
