The agricultural and industrial tire business unit of Sweden’s Trelleborg Group increased sales and profitability last year as it continued to integrate CGS business and its Mitas agricultural products acquired mid-way through 2016.
The Pirelli brand has formally returned to the agricultural tire market in Europe with the launch in Italy of the PHP — Pirelli High Performance — range of traction tires. Road tire producer Yokohama Rubber is to enter the farm and forestry sectors by acquiring Alliance Tire Group — ATG — a manufacturer of tractor, trailer and groundscare equipment tires, along with the Alliance, Galaxy and Primex brands.
Bridgestone is turning its European ag tire strategy on its head by using the brand to develop a range of high-end tires to complement the current Firestone range. Until now, the Bridgestone brand in Europe has been used on only a small range of compact tractor tires.
Off-road tire maker, Titan International, confirmed that it is laying the groundwork for a cooperative venture in Russia. It also added an “I told you so” about the current tire supply that sent its stock price into a dive.
