According to results from the January 2021 Dealer Sentiments & Business Conditions Update, surveyed dealers reported their used combine pricing was up 1% in December 2020, the first time pricing has reached a positive reading since 2012.
According to Ag Equipment Intelligence’s January 2020 Dealer Sentiment & Business Conditions Update report, the percentage of dealers reporting their used equipment inventories as “too high” has reached its lowest level since spring of 2012.
With the 2019 sales year rapidly approaching, North American farm equipment dealers are taking a close look at their equipment inventories, with more than one-third of them noting that combine inventories are “too high” in the latest Dealer Sentiments & Business Conditions Update survey.
The monthly survey of equipment dealerships found that sales were down 1% year-over-year in October, a slight improvement vs. the 2% declines reported in the September.
Figures released by the Assn. of Equipment Manufacturers on July 10 showed that, while large ag equipment sales declined again in June, inventory of these products on dealers’ lots continued to increase.
In the face of declining grain prices, uncertainty about depreciation rules, skepticism about a new farm bill, and a lot of talk about farm equipment sales peaking, North American farm equipment dealers continue to see good potential for solid sales in 2014.
With a 27% “bump” in unit sales in May vs. a year earlier, it appears that the prospects for compact tractors are improving significantly following 5 years of relatively flat sales.
Overall, a net 27% of dealers report longer factory lead-times compared to last month 34% longer; 58% same; 8% shorter up from a net 25% last month, according to the most recent Dealers Sentiments & Business Conditions Update survey.
Four of the last six months (through September), dealers are reporting that their equipment suppliers are offering more incentives to move wholegoods and parts than they did during the previous year.
