Heavy duty row crop tractor unit sales continued to increase in the U.S., while overall farm tractor unit sales in the U.S. and Canada declined in August, according to the latest data from the Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM).
Increased sales of new high horsepower tractors in North America is helping AGCO’s Fendt unit toward its goal of selling 20,000 units globally a year by 2020. This year, sales in North America are expected to top 800 units for the first time as farmers take to the Fendt 1000 Vario range and its Challenger-branded counterpart.
All signals point to continued strong cattle pricing going into 2015. This trend should bode well for the sale of mid-range tractors (40-100 horsepower), which have experienced solid growth during the past 2 years, and it may even give a lift to high horsepower equipment.
