Based on preliminary results of Ag Equipment Intelligence’s 2022 Big Dealer Report, dealer consolidation is continuing to pick up. While the total number of big dealers dropped to 195 from 197 last year, the total number of stores owned by big dealers increased from 2,358 in 2021 to 2,471 this year, an increase of about 4%.

There is one fewer big dealer on Ag Equipment Intelligence’s Big Dealer list than there was a year ago at this time. A year ago, we showed 188 dealership groups vs. 187 this year. Is the consolidation of North American farm equipment dealers finally slowing?
As dealer consolidation continues among North American farm equipment dealers, Ag Equipment Intelligence will continually update industry mergers & acquisitions, dealership openings and closings as they occur.
There is one less “Big Dealer” on the list than there was one year ago. The 2018 edition of the Big Dealer report showed 188 dealerships operating five or more locations. The 2019 version lists 187 groups. Overall, dealerships with 10 or more locations increased by four, while dealerships with 5-9 locations shrunk by five. As has been noted in previous editions of the Big Dealer report, “the bigs continue to get bigger and the smalls continue to get smaller.”
