Through the first 6 months of the year, overall sales of farm tractors and combines have held up fairly well in the U.S. but not so much for Canadian equipment dealers.
According to the latest ag equipment sales numbers from the Assn. of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM), U.S. large ag sales increased 6.3% year-over-year in June (May: –14.5%). Combined U.S./Canada large ag sales increased 4.6% (May: –20.1%).
January 2019 ag equipment sales were a tale of two countries. “U.S. growth of 3% was offset by an 11% decline in Canada,” Mircea (Mig) Dobre, RW Baird, said in his summary of ag equipment sales reported by the Assn. of Equipment Manufacturers.
