Outlook for Canadian Big Ag Equipment Sales Remains Challenging

Sales of large farm machinery in Canada has gone through some turbulent times in recent years. According to Farm Credit Canada (FCC), next year will continue to challenge Canadian equipment dealers and manufacturers, but some improvement is expected even as farm revenues continue to soften.

Deere’s 3QFY20 Sales & Revenue Drop 11%; Ag & Turf Equipment Down 5%

Deere & Co. reported consolidated net sales and revenues of $8.9 billion during its third quarter ended Aug. 2, 2020 vs. $10 billion in the same period a year earlier, a decline of 11%. Equipment operations came in at $7.9 billion during the period compared to nearly $9 billion last year, also a drop off of 12%.

Dealers 2019 Outlook Dips to –1% Decline for Full Year

The 2019 forecast now calls for 1% year-over-year declines, below the +1% growth expected in January. A net 9% of dealers expect growth in 2019.
