New Delhi — Mahindra & Mahindra's Farm Equipment Sector (FES) has announced it sold 17,213 units of tractors in the domestic market in December 2019, up 4% from 16,510 units recorded in the same month in 2018.
The company's export number dipped 13% to 777 units last month, compared to 894 units shipped in December 2018.
Total tractor sales for the company in December 2019 was 17,990 units, compared to 17,404 units sold in the same month in 2018.
Cumulatively, the company has sold 242,625 units in the fiscal year between April-December, 10% down from 269,558 units sold during the same period in last fiscal year.
Commenting on the performance, Rajesh Jejurikar, president, Farm Equipment Sector, Mahindra & Mahindra, said, "Tractor demand looks positive in the near term led by the expectation of a better Rabi crop output, supported by crop prices and a government push on irrigation, rural infrastructure and the agriculture sector.”
