Recent reports show that Mahindra and Escorts showed domestic tractor sales growth in January, while exports dropped.
According to a report from Rural Marketing, Mahindra & Mahindra, India’s largest tractor manufacturer, is reporting sales of 22,329 tractors in its domestic market in January vs. 20,948 during January 2019 (+7%). The company exported 787 tractors in the month compared to 1,264 (–38%) tractors exported in the same month last year. Total tractor sales, domestic and exports, during January 2020 were at 23,116 units vs. 22,212 units for the same period last year.
Another report from Deccan Herald showed that Escorts saw 6,063 tractor registrations in January 2020, a 1.2% increase from the 5,991 tractors sold this time last year. Domestic registrations were at 5,845 in January (up 1.4% compared to January 2019), while exports were at 218 tractors, a 4.8% decline from the 229 tractors exported the same month last year.
