According to a report from The Express Tribune, the ongoing slump of the Pakistani ag equipment industry has only been worsened by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Tractor manufacturing was down even before the pandemic, with at least four tractor manufacturers in the country operating at less than 50% of their combined capacity due to low demand. Total sales have been declining sharply since the fiscal year 2018, when the industry sold 70,887 units, which was a record for the decade. The fiscal year 2019 saw just 50,405 tractors sold, a decline of 28.9%. And thus far in the first nine months of the fiscal year 2020, the country has seen 23,506 tractors sold.
