With used equipment building up on many farm equipment dealers’ lots over the last several months, dealers are now less willing to accept trade-ins on high-horsepower equipment. According to the 34th UBS Agricultural Dealer survey, more than half (56%) of all dealers surveyed are "less willing" to accept used high- horsepower equipment trade-ins
David Meyer, Titan Machinery chairman and CEO, told Ag Equipment Intelligence that the company implemented new processes aimed at better controlling new and used machinery inventories going forward.
The results of a survey of 200 farm equipment dealers by UBS Global Equity Research indicate that, despite continued strong ag machinery sales through the first quarter of the year, U.S. farm equipment dealers aren’t quite as confident about the remainder of 2013.
With the exception of combines, North American farm equipment dealers are reporting that the value of most used ag machinery continued to hold firm through Feb. and there’s little evidence of any significant shift toward lower pricing in the near term.
A significant, but unexpected uptick in North American tractor and combine sales in October is creating concerns with dealers about a build-up of used equipment taken in trade.
