Engine maker Deutz has signed a long term agreement with Kukje Machinery, the South Korean manufacturer of Branson brand compact tractors, to source engines for sale to OEMs in the U.S. and Europe.
An 8.8% increase in revenues from sales of engines for agricultural equipment contributed to a near 6% overall improvement for off-road engine maker Deutz in the first half of 2019, despite a 3.4% reduction in sales of all engine types from 105,201 to 101,591 units.
Off-highway engine maker Deutz has responded to the likely adoption of electric and hybrid drive systems for future agricultural vehicles and implements by acquiring a leading German manufacturer to secure expertise in this field.
Diesel engine maker Deutz intends to get closer to small and mid-size original equipment manufacturers by opening sales, parts and service centers in strategic locations within the U.S.
Now liberated from successively more stringent exhaust emissions rules, engine maker Deutz will focus its R&D efforts on electronics and software development, more compact emissions systems, alternative fuels and extracting more power from fewer cubic inches.
