U.S. large ag retail sales were down 3.7% year-over-year in August, while Canadian sales were up 8.3%, according to the latest numbers from the Assn. of Equipment Manufacturers.

Large ag equipment retail sales continued to recover in July, according to analysis from RW Baird analyst Mircea (Mig) Dobre. Compact/midrange equipment saw continued outsized increases.
Overall unit sales of agricultural tractors and self-propelled combines in July 2020 were positive for the fourth month in a row in the U.S., and remained positive for the second consecutive month in Canada.
Argentina’s National Institute for Statistics and Census (Indec) reports that during the first quarter 2020, 228 combines were sold. This was down 23% year-over-year in units, but up 7.8% in value.
Through the first 6 months of the year, overall sales of farm tractors and combines have held up fairly well in the U.S. but not so much for Canadian equipment dealers.
According to the latest ag equipment sales numbers from the Assn. of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM), U.S. large ag sales increased 6.3% year-over-year in June (May: –14.5%). Combined U.S./Canada large ag sales increased 4.6% (May: –20.1%).
The Brazilian National Assn. of Vehicle Manufacturers (Anfavea) sales of wheel tractors came in at 2,614 units during June, which is down 14.74% from May sales. On a year-over-year basis, unit sales were down 23.3%.
